James Fitzpatrick
The influences I like to draw upon range from Japanese culture, science fiction both current and classic, graffiti street art, spiritual and religious figures, portraiture and more recently cartoons.
Line is important in my work, whether sketchy in portraits, or more accurate and considered in 3D technical drawings. The colours I like to use are warm and vivid and have been described as "bubblegum" colours.
Drawing can be a real challenge and can be a meditative practice, no two days are the same. I use my own visual language and apply the methods I have learned and the work evolves the way it wants to.
Being part of a creative community is important, it takes away introspection and allows the work to flourish in a supportive and social environment.
